Family Concert to Celebrate Creativity, Inspire Action
Featuring Luminescence! Hilary Michels Dunning, Janet Hammer, Shaina Pugh
On May 20, the Livingkindness Foundation is producing an afternoon concert of music, poetry and the arts to celebrate creativity as a cultural tool. The event, called “Standing in the Light,” takes place at the Unity Center at 8999 Activity Road from 2-5 pm.
Jan Phillips, founder and Executive Director of Livingkindness, has written several books on creativity, and has been an activist for social justice since she traveled the world on a one-woman peace pilgrimage in 1984. “No matter what our attempts to inform, it is our ability to inspire that will turn the tides,” says Phillips, who has organized a line-up of ten musicians, four poets and several artists whose culturally-informed works will be exhibited. Performers include Robin Adler and Dave Blackburn, Lisa Sanders, Peggy Watson, Peter Bolland, Janet Hammer, Andy Anderson, Shaina Pugh, Hilary Michels Dunning, Nathan Fry, Jaime Jones, Johnnierenee Nelson, Alyce Smith Cooper, and Dr. Judy Sundayo.
“This event will stimulate ideas for positive action. It’s a win-win. Come to be entertained. Leave feeling inspired to make a difference,” says Phillips. There will be a voter registration table at the event and several networking groups sharing information and products.
For tickets and info, go to livingkindness.org Children under 16 are admitted free. Tickets are $15 online and $20 at the door.
